Requirements

Responsibilities
- Lead the technical strategy, planning and delivery of the SAP ECC and BW/4HANA migration to SAP Private Cloud, including path-clearing activities, migration execution, archive remediation and legacy platform decommissioning.
- Own the end-to-end SAP technical roadmap and establish the foundations for the subsequent migration from SAP ECC to S/4HANA.
- Represent IT technically within the transformation programme, advising on SAP technologies, architecture, dependencies, risks, opportunities, resources and delivery sequencing.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with SAP and key delivery partners, holding suppliers accountable for outcomes, commercial commitments, service quality and value.
- Define and govern SAP technical architecture, aligning infrastructure, cloud platforms, security, integrations, data management, automation, development and operational support.
- Lead and direct internal technical teams, including Enterprise Architecture, SAP Basis, Platform Services, Security, DevOps, Integration, Automation and Application Management.
- Establish and oversee programme governance, technical decision-making forums and architecture reviews, proactively managing risks, issues and dependencies.
- Ensure technical solutions comply with enterprise security standards, risk controls, regulatory requirements, audit obligations and internal control frameworks.
- Lead technical planning and readiness for SAP Private Cloud operations, including environment strategy, high availability, disaster recovery, performance management, monitoring and operational support models.
- Drive technical due diligence and decisions on SAP product roadmaps, cloud capabilities, custom code remediation, infrastructure modernisation and future S/4HANA adoption.

We are recruiting for a six-month contract SAP Technical Director role in the FMCG/IT industry, with hybrid working and locations in Hertfordshire, Manchester or Southampton. The rate is £800–£1,200 per day. Reporting to the CIO, the role leads the path-clearing and migration of the companys SAP ECC and BW/4 single-instance estate to SAP Private Cloud; after archiving and decommissioning are completed, the next project is the technical migration from SAP ECC to S/4HANA. The role works closely with IT leadership and teams across architecture, business partnering, SAP functional and platform specialisms, risk and security, internal controls, DevOps, integrations and automation to support the Catalyst roadmap.
