Salary: £50,000 - 55,000 per year
Requirements
- Strong experience in Java development, including Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
- Experience with REST APIs, OpenAPI, JSON, and microservices architecture.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Spring Data JPA/Hibernate, and Flyway.
- Experience with Apache Kafka, Amazon MSK, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with AWS services, including API Gateway, ECS, CloudWatch, CodePipeline, and Secrets Manager.
- Experience with Docker, Docker Compose, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, Maven, and GitLab CI/CD.
- Knowledge of JUnit 5, automated testing, software architecture, and common design patterns.
- Collaborative, proactive approach, with problem-solving ability, good communication skills, and an interest in continuous improvement and emerging technologies.
- Desirable: experience developing high-volume transactional systems or complex enterprise applications, integrating third-party services and external APIs, or using AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, TypeScript, CloudWatch monitoring, performance analysis, or certificate-based authentication.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java applications using Spring Boot.
- Build cloud-based microservices, event-driven applications, and REST APIs.
- Develop new features, enhance existing applications, and optimise performance.
- Work with AWS, PostgreSQL, and modern development tools.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, technical design, and development best practices.
- Write clean, maintainable code and support automated testing and CI/CD processes.
- Collaborate with developers, testers, and project managers in an Agile environment.
- Troubleshoot complex issues, share technical knowledge, and support fellow engineers.
