Requirements
- Relevant IT qualification or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration.
- Experience supporting Windows desktop and server environments.
- Significant experience providing IT support in a business environment.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID, and managing devices through Microsoft Intune.
- Strong understanding of networking principles and troubleshooting, and experience supporting cyber security controls and best practices.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, communicate effectively with stakeholders, work independently while supporting wider team objectives, and prioritise competing demands.
- Professional, approachable, proactive, results-focused and detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a security-conscious mindset, a collaborative approach and commitment to continuous professional development.
- Desirable: CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Azure, Intune or Microsoft 365 certifications, CCNA, ITIL Foundation or cyber security certifications.
- Desirable: Experience supporting Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus compliance, working in ISO 27001-aligned environments, using Microsoft Defender technologies, and working with backup and disaster recovery solutions; PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
- Applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance of Lincoln, as the role is primarily office-based.
- The successful applicant must be a UK National and may need to complete National Security Vetting, which may include criminal record, security service and credit reference checks. Qualification will normally require at least five years of UK residency.
Responsibilities
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex IT incidents, problems and service requests; lead technical investigations and root cause analysis.
- Provide second- and third-line support to employees and stakeholders, and support and oversee first- and second-line support activities.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking and connectivity issues; support laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers, peripherals and telephony systems.
- Prioritise, manage and resolve support tickets within agreed timescales, and support onboarding and offboarding, including equipment provisioning, account creation and access management.
- Administer and maintain Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Entra ID and Intune/Endpoint Manager; manage accounts, permissions, security groups and licences.
- Implement and maintain Conditional Access, multifactor authentication and identity security controls; manage device compliance policies, application deployment and patching, and monitor tenant health, security posture and service performance.
- Maintain and support network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, wireless networks and VPN services; monitor performance, availability and capacity, and support backup, disaster recovery and business continuity arrangements.
- Maintain accurate network diagrams and infrastructure documentation, and liaise with external suppliers and support partners.
- Lead work relating to Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification, ISO 27001 compliance and information security initiatives.
- Monitor and investigate security alerts using Microsoft Defender and associated monitoring platforms; conduct vulnerability assessments, coordinate remediation, maintain endpoint security and baselines, and support incident response and cyber security investigations.
- Promote cyber security awareness and safe working practices across the business.
- Lead and support IT improvement projects; evaluate emerging technologies, recommend improvements, and assist with infrastructure upgrades, migrations and technology deployments.
- Contribute to our IT and cyber security strategy and support business growth with scalable, resilient technology solutions.
- Help develop IT standards, processes, procedures and technical documentation, and identify ways to improve service delivery, reliability and user experience.
