This opportunity is to join the Obstetrics and Gynecology Team at Glangwili General Hospital. Applications are invited from efficient and suitably qualified individuals for the post of a full time Band 4 Medical Secretary within the Obstetrics and Gynecology Team based at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen on a fixed term basis.
Working 37.5 hours per week, the successful candidate will be required to support the delivery of a comprehensive and quality secretarial service to the Consultants and their teams.
Main duties of the job
You will undertake a broad range of administrative and secretarial duties, including the receipt and distribution of correspondence, audio transcription, and the preparation of highly sensitive letters and reports, ensuring strict confidentiality is maintained at all times. The role also involves the accurate operation of the Health Board's patient database systems.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate exceptional organisational skills, alongside a flexible and adaptable approach to an evolving workload. The ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and apply tact and diplomacy in a professional healthcare environment is essential, as are well-developed communication skills.
Applicants must possess demonstrable experience in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email systems. Proven secretarial expertise, including advanced audio typing skills, is required, together with a sound understanding of medical terminology.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
