We are excited to be advertising for a new practice nurse at our practice in Penarth. The successful candidate would be joining a very motivated and friendly team, providing care to approximately 9500 patients in the Eastern Vale cluster. We are looking for an experienced practice nurse for 28 hours a week (some variation in those hours is negotiable) to cover a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Consideration will also be given to candidates without practice nurse experience.
Main duties of the job

Wound care, suture removal, venepuncture and management of minor injuries
Administration of medications
Immunisations and vaccinations, including childhood, flu, shingles and travel vaccines
Perform ECGs, other diagnostic tests
Cervical cytology and screening procedures
Health checks including BP, BMI, and cardiovascular risk assessments
Respond to medical emergencies including anaphylaxis and resuscitation
Maintain safe storage, handling and stock control of vaccines and medications
Support infection prevention and control standards
Chaperone and assist clinicians where required
About us
We are a very enthusiastic and well-managed and organised practice, established within the Eastern Vale Cluster (EVC) of Cardiff & Vale University Health Board. Currently we have a list size of circa 9,500. One of our partners is the Vale Constituency Lead for the Bro Taf LMC. We provide a full range of enhanced services to our patients including minor surgery, LARC/Coil contraception, nursing home enhanced care and shared care monitoring.
We currently have 3 partners and 3 salaried GPs who between them provide 36 sessions, a clinical pharmacist, 2 part time nurses equivalent to 1.2 WTE and 2 part time HCSWs.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
RN(A) with current NMC validation, with experience of working within a nursing team
Desirable
Experience in primary care or community nursing Experience in using clinical system EMIS Experience in chronic disease management and screening services
Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse (NMC) Strong clinical skills across treatment room and chronic disease management (or a willingness to train in Chronic Disease Management) Competence in vaccinations, including travel immunisations and childhood immunisations Experience performing ECGs and other investigative procedures (or willingness to train) Strong IT skills essential, including confident use of clinical systems Excellent communication and teamwork skills Commitment to high standards of patient care and confidentiality
Desirable
Practice Nurse experience Cervical Cytology Chronic Disease Monitoring Immunisation Trained including Childhood Imms Phlebotomy
