Job summary
The Medical Staffing Co-ordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Directorate's medical staffing function, ensuring effective and efficient deployment of medical staff. The post holder ensures that all medical staffing practices meet required standards, including BMA guidelines, Risk Management Standards, NHS Employers guidance and Trust policies. They work collaboratively with key stakeholders, liaising with Health Education England (East of England), HR, the Postgraduate Education team and Directorate management leads to support workforce planning, compliance and service delivery.
Main duties of the job
Provide expert advice on Medical and Dental terms and conditions, ensuring best practice in the management of medical staff. This includes supporting clinical directors, consultants and managers on a range of workforce matters such as changes to terms and conditions and the effective management of medical staffing rotas. Contribute to medical workforce planning by helping to ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill mix across services.
Manage doctors engaged on zero-hours locum contracts, ensuring all necessary pre-employment checks are completed in collaboration with HR. Proactively liaise with Trust doctors to fill rota gaps in a timely manner, supporting continuity of care and service delivery.
