Job summary
The service wish to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist with considerable experience in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders in our Manchester eating disorder team. This post is based in a community setting at Gaskell House in close proximity to the Manchester Royal Infirmary site.

This opportunity provides structured training, supervised clinical experience, and formal recognition of advanced competence in Eating Disorder psychiatry. Main duties of the job
Undertake joint assessments of referrals/admissions to the service where direct Consultant input required.
Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations and for CAMHS transfers of care where indicated.
Provide assessment and management in complex and co-morbid presentations e.g. patients with physical or learning disabilities.
Assessment and management of risk including of vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety and risk of harm to others.
Investigations and interpretations of results and liaison with GPs and acute specialisms where required.
Prescription and titration of medications within a defined Shared Care Protocol or to closely advise General Practitioners where this is not agreed.
The Consultant will provide defined clinical supervision to specific team members or as part of the MDT.
Work in a collaborative way with the multidisciplinary teams.
Active participation in referral/liaison meetings and internal MDT meetings and attend discharge planning meetings for a small, selected group of patients.
To carry a small of caseload of monitoring and stability patients who have longstanding eating disorders.
To provide clinical advice and liaison as required to colleagues in primary care, community services and acute specialties within the time constraints and capacity of the allocated Direct Clinical Programmed Activities.
