You'll work closely with patients, their families and carers, playing a vital part in ensuring everyone who uses our services has a positive and supportive experience. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you'll work alongside nurses, activity coordinators, social workers and occupational therapists, offering you a unique chance to learn from different specialties every day.

We ask for flexibility to work a variety of shifts including weekends, nights and bank holidays, and in return you'll gain experience, knowledge and opportunities that can open doors across the NHS.

If you are new to Health Care we will place you on a HCSW induction programme to ensure that you are fully trained and supported to perform the role. The programme will last for up to 6 months and during this period of training you will be paid a salary of £25272. On completion of your training period your salary will rise to £25760 as per the advert.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for Healthcare support workers across our services within the Western Community Hospital, Southampton. It has the South of England Rehabilitation Centre incorporating four wards Keats, Conan Doyle, Kite and Snowdon.

The services aims to rehabilitate or re-able people to return to their own homes, or where people are not able to return home to have undertaken appropriate assessment and liaised with relevant services to find an appropriate place for them.

You will work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients to build independence and develop daily living skills, including personal hygiene, diet and fluids and participation in social activities as outlined in their Care Plan.

Assist and support qualified staff, carrying out assigned tasks as directed, without supervision. This will include housekeeping duties where required.

Demonstrate excellent communication skills, using them to engage, persuade or negotiate with clients with complex or challenging needs to ensure they receive the most appropriate care and support.

At present, the Trust is unable to offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this post. Applicants

We also have community roles in the Southampton, Eastleigh, Fordingbridge and Lymington area for our hospital at home service.

Qualifications Essential

Level 2 qualification or equivalent in a relevant area gained through experience, on the job training, short courses and completion of work-based competencies Completed care certificate, in the process or willingness to work towards the care certificate.
