About this role

Summary The Section of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is looking for a talented Postdoctoral Associate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This position offers an opportunity to work on NIH-funded projects investigating the immunologic mechanisms underlying chronic lung allograft dysfunction, with a focus on type I interferon signaling, regulatory T cell biology, and virus-host interactions. The Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to design and perform experiments using in vitro and in vivo models, analyze high-dimensional datasets (e.g., flow cytometry, RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics), prepare manuscripts for publication, and contribute to grant writing and mentorship of junior lab members.

Baylor College of Medicine typically follows similar to the NIH stipulated stipend guidelines for Postdoctoral Associates.

  • Job Duties Plans, directs, and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
  • Designs and executes experiments involving murine models of lung transplantation, precision-cut lung slices, and in vitro immune cell co-culture systems to investigate mechanisms of chronic rejection.

  • Performs quantitative analysis of flow cytometry, bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, and spatial transcriptomic data using R or Python; interprets findings in the context of transplant immunobiology.
  • Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
  • Develops and optimizes protocols for regulatory T cell isolation and suppression assays, NETosis induction, and viral infection modeling in transplant settings.
  • Summarizes research findings and publishes results in research journals: Prepares figures, writes manuscripts, and contributes to grant proposals; presents findings at internal seminars and national scientific meetings.
