Main duties of the job The Team Leader Male Support Worker position at Elysium Healthcare entails supporting individuals with severe learning disabilities and Autism. Applicants should be empathetic and communicative, with a history of working in similar settings. You’ll be great with people – a real ‘people person’, able to communicate effectively – explaining yourself clearly in the right tone to suit the situation and be really good at understanding others (behaviours and expressions, as well as vocal). Having a good sense of humour and resilience, and a willingness to help residents with their personal hygiene are also important.
Ideal candidates will be drivers who enjoy highenergy, active days and can confidently take part in regular activities such as football and other sports several times a week.
This role is open to male applicants only, as the post involves providing personal care and support to male residents. This requirement is an Occupational Requirement permitted under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010. A valid UK driving licence is preferred to support community activities.
What you will be doing You will join an inclusive, supportive team that works well together to provide care to people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions.
Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will use your excellent communication skills and experience as a Team Leader with a background in Learning Disabilities & Autism to provide care and support people through their care pathway. It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of you; being able to do something today that they couldn’t do last week. You will be working on shifts with a mixture of late and early shifts between the working hours of 7am and 10pm, including weekends on rota.
As a Team Leader you will have:
Ideally have or working towards NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care Hold a valid UK driving licence (preferred to assist with community visits) Have strong empathy and a caring and compassionate nature Be willing to support residents with personal hygiene Have excellent people and communication skills, and a good sense of humour Deal with challenging behaviours Have a positive and professional approach Be reliable, flexible, hard-working and honest Be local or within commutable distance You must live in the UK and have the Right to Work in the UK full time. 20-hour Student and Skilled Worker Visa's cannot be accepted.

89 Ewell Road is a Learning Disability and Autism service which provides support for people who may be living with moderate Learning Disabilities with associated health needs, Autism and behaviours.
You will be working alongside a multidisciplinary team to offer support to people who may come to 89 Ewell Road as part of their care pathway. Whether it is moving from their community placement or a family home because they require more structured care and support.
Ideal candidates would be male drivers who are able to partake in high energy activities including sports like football multiple times a week. You will work on shift so flexibility is required. It is permanent full-time position, 37.5 hours contract. What You’ll Get
