Job summary
The post will be as a full-time year 6/7 SpR in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, primarily working within the Department of Gynaecological Oncology. The post-holder will predominantly work in the Gynaecological Oncology service receiving further training to complete Sub-Specialty training.

Main duties of the job
They will gain experience in managing Gynaecological cancer patients by participating in multidisciplinary meetings and managing Oncology patients on the ward and in outpatients. The training programme is a modular training programme covering the RCOG subspecialty training curriculum. The rota does involve some Obstetric cover out of hours but the Obstetric cover is delivered in a way to minimise the impact on Gynaecological Oncology Sub-Specialty training.
The post-holder will participate in the resident on-Call rota for Senior Registrars (ST6/7) in both Obstetrics and gynaecology, when they will be expected to do Obstetrics at a senior level (third-on call). Sub-specialty fellows will be expected to provide active senior medical input into the management of pre-operative/post-operative patients and Gynaecological emergencies.
The post-holder will be expected to have passed MRCOG part 3 (or equivalent) and completed at least 3 years at registrar or equivalent level in an RCOG approved unit. The post will include supervision and teaching of more.
Communication and inter-personal skills are very important in this post and the post-holder will be expected to exhibit the highest possible standards in communication with patients, their families, consultants, junior medical staff midwives and nurses since multi-professional team-working forms the foundation of our patient focussed service.
