- Summary
- Prepares sections of tissue specimens for routine and special examinations.
Job Description
- Performs histological procedures to embed, stain, and mount samples using routine and special techniques to make tissue slides used for diagnosis.
- Examines specimen slides; enters and tracks result information and generates result reports.
- Maintains and repairs lab instruments.
- Sterilizes work area and stocks supplies.
- Ensures all lab safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met.
- Will work with self-discipline and good judgment while following established standards of practice.
- Will be responsible for performing routine duties in all areas of the Histology Laboratory.
- May be required to interact with all ages of client population.
- Recognize responsibilities of other laboratory and health care personnel and interact with respect for their jobs and patient care.
- Keep abreast of new procedures in the department as well as changes in general hospital policy and procedures.
Qualifications
- Associates degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences required.
