About the RoleWe are seeking a reliable and motivated Housekeeper to join our team on Hyndburn Ward at Whalley. This is an important role supporting both staff and patients by ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that promotes recovery and wellbeing.
Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the day-to-day running of the ward, helping maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the ward, including patient areas, communal spaces, and staff areas- Ensure infection prevention and control procedures are followed at all times- Order, monitor, and restock supplies such as cleaning materials, linen, and ward essentials- Assist in creating a comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients- Report maintenance issues and safety concerns promptly- Work collaboratively with nursing and clinical staff to support ward operations
About You- Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience (preferably in a healthcare setting)- Understanding of hygiene, cleanliness, and infection control standards- Good communication and interpersonal skills- Ability to work independently and as part of a team- Organised, reliable, and proactive approach to work- A compassionate and respectful attitude towards individuals experiencing mental health difficulties

Qualifications Essential
Educated to GCSE standard (grades A-C) or equivalent Working towards NVQ Level 3 in related subject ( to be achieved within 1 year of appointment) or equivalent level of experience
Knowledge Essential
Understand the demands of the ward environment Knowledge of the working practices of the ward area. Awareness and understanding of the importance of confidentiality
Experience Essential
Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of planning and organising daily activities across a variety of disciplines. Experience of a busy ward environment.
