About this role

Job summary

The post-holder will be the Lead Pharmacist for Aseptic Production Services, and will develop the specialist aseptic production service in line with local and national standards and policies, ensuring the safe, clinical and cost-effective use of medicines and staff resources.

Fulfilling the role of Accountable Pharmacist, the post-holder will work closely with the local aseptic services and quality assurance teams, as well as regional and national quality assurance bodies, to ensure that the production unit at West Suffolk Hospital is working in accordance with Section 10 regulations for an unlicensed unit.

Person Specification

Education & Qualification Essential

Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical or Technical Pharmacy or equivalent demonstrable experience Registered as a pharmacist with The General Pharmaceutical Council

Desirable

MSc in Clinical or Technical Pharmacy Independent prescribing qualification Aseptic Preparation and Dispensing of Medicines (Leeds University) or equivalent or willing to complete Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society

Experience & Knowledge Essential

Extensive post-registration experience with substantial aseptic production experience Experience of multidisciplinary team working Experience in providing and evaluating pharmacy education & training including mentorship Experience of managing or supervising other staff Experience of implementing and/or reviewing policies, guidelines, PGDs or equivalent Evidence of on-going revalidation with the GPhC Highly specialised knowledge of aseptic preparation services in an unlicensed, section 10 exemption unit Experience of releasing aseptically prepared products in an unlicensed, Section 10 exemption unit. Knowledge of how the delivery of the clinical pharmacy service must meet the needs of local and national priorities Knowledge of pharmacy based computer systems

Desirable

Experience in the provision of pharmacy expertise to the clinical governance agenda Experience of providing post-graduate level training and/or education Experience of managing the entry of new medicines into a hospital formulary Experience of budgetary responsibility and/or experience with high cost drugs
