About this role
Downer Rail & Transit Systems is seeking a Maintenance Electrical Tradesperson to join the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) on the Fraser Coast.
This hands-on role supports the electrical systems, automated equipment and facility infrastructure that keep our manufacturing operations moving. You’ll use your fault-finding and maintenance expertise to improve equipment reliability, resolve breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
Importantly, this is facility and production equipment maintenance, not train maintenance. You’ll join a safety-focused team where quality work, collaboration and reliable outcomes matter.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep electrical systems, automated production equipment and facility infrastructure operating safely and reliably.
- Diagnose and resolve faults across PLCs, servo drives, variable speed drives and control systems.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns efficiently to minimise disruption and support production.
- Complete inspections, testing, preventative maintenance and repairs to improve equipment performance.
- Undertake HV switching and isolation activities within your competency and site authorisations.
What You Bring
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician and a current unrestricted Queensland Electrical Mechanic Licence.
- High Voltage Switching competency and a strong commitment to safe electrical work practices.
- Hands-on industrial electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience in manufacturing, heavy industry or a similar environment.
- Experience with PLCs, automated equipment and electrical control systems, with the ability to read electrical schematics.
- Additional competencies in HV infrastructure, Working at Heights, Confined Space, EWP or Forklift operations will be highly regarded.
