Job summary
Brunel Medical Centre is seeking an experienced Lead Clinical Pharmacist with Independent Prescribing rights to provide expert clinical oversight, mentorship, and leadership across our GP practice.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated pharmacist who wants to make a real impact in patient care without formal line management responsibilities. Youll lead on medicines optimisation, support safe and effective prescribing, and help develop the wider pharmacy team through training, clinical supervision, and quality improvement.
Working within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment on the Brunel University London campus, youll have the autonomy to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care while contributing to the continued development of our pharmacy services.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
Provide senior clinical oversight for all aspects of pharmacy services within the practice Undertake medication reviews and manage complex patients with long-term conditions Prescribe safely and effectively within scope of competence as an Independent Prescriber Support the development and delivery of practice protocols, prescribing guidelines, and formulary management Lead on medicines safety and quality improvement initiatives in line with national and local priorities Provide clinical advice and support to GPs, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary team Conduct clinical audits and contribute to CQC compliance and clinical governance Mentor, supervise, and train pharmacy technicians, junior pharmacists, and other clinical staff Liaise with community pharmacies, hospital teams, and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care Support delivery of enhanced services and contribute to practice performance targets (e.g., QOF, IIF)

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
The ideal candidate will have: Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and an active practising status Independent Prescriber (IP) qualification A minimum of 2 years clinical pharmacy experience (preferably in a primary care or similar setting) Strong clinical decision-making skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Experience in providing training, supervision, or mentorship to other healthcare professionals

Experience Desirable Experience working in general practice, primary care networks (PCNs), or urgent care settings Familiarity with EMIS Web or other primary care clinical systems Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy, prescribing, or a related discipline Experience leading on quality improvement, clinical audits, or medicines optimisation projects Demonstrated ability to contribute to clinical governance and service development initiatives
