Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a well-motivated and enthusiastic Advanced Paediatric Audiologist to join us in the Paediatric Audiology team at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.
The post holder will be fully competent in all areas of advanced paediatric hearing assessments, including diagnostic evoked potentials and behavioural hearing assessments. They will have a good knowledge of fitting and verifying hearing aids on children.
The post is a permanent position, part time (35.5 hours per week) but flexible working will be considered.
Previous experience in working in NHS Hospitals is essential.
Main duties of the job
Act as the primary liaison with Specialist Teachers of the Deaf to ensure children receive appropriate amplification and radio aid support in educational settings. Assist in developing policies and procedures for the Paediatric Audiology Service alongside the Service Lead, and deputise for the site manager/service lead when required. Provide supervision, mentoring, and support to junior staff. Lead paediatric audits, sharing learning from incidents and events with the team. Ensure correct use and calibration of audiological equipment, including evoked potentials systems.
Perform advanced and routine diagnostic hearing assessments for children of all ages, including behavioural, speech, and objective tests (ABR, ABR under GA, ASSR, OAEs). Manage hearing aid assessments, fittings, validation (REM/RECD), and ongoing family support, utilising SONAR for peer review. Attend meetings, training, and CHSWG sessions, potentially acting as an officer. Compile departmental statistics, report via S4H, and monitor compliance with NHSP and BAA Quality Standards. Hold responsibility for a specialist area or basic management duties, such as staff appraisals.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
BSc / MSc in Audiology or equivalent (DIP Audiology with relevant BSc or BAAT Part 1 or 2 / BTEC/HTEC MPPM) State registration with AHCS or HCPC (clinical scientist)
Desirable
Registered with BAA and/or BSA Leadership qualification or experience in leading a team
Knowledge and Experience Essential
Application demonstrates full competency including theoretical and practical training in full range of hearing aid techniques and clinical diagnostic test procedures for adults and young children including pre-school age.

Experience in training, teaching and supervising junior staff within the discipline NHS experience
