Job summary
As a member of the senior management team, the post holder is accountable for the operational day-to-day running of the Division, and through this, the development of high quality, clinically effective patient centred services, ensuring these are delivered in the most cost efficient manner, through the effective leadership, management and deployment of resources. The Deputy role will involve task and finish based work throughout the Divisional specialities, applying senior leadership in order to drive successful solutions and transformation.
Main duties of the job
To work in collaboration with and provide support to Divisional Management Team to drive change and modernisation ensuring the achievement of National, Trust and Divisional performance indicators and objectives.
- To co-ordinate patient quality, safety and clinical effectiveness governance as well as riskmanagement supported by the Deputy Divisional Director of Nursing.
- To be responsible for the operational delivery and running of the division, working incollaboration with the Divisional Leadership Team
- To lead the co-ordination of the Services Strategic Business Plan, identifying business opportunities and change management initiatives.
- To provide strong, clear leadership and operational management in the business aspects of the Division to achieve a fully integrated approach to delivering high quality, patient led services.
- To build effective working relationships with key partners including the public and clinical commissioning groups to maximise the opportunity for partnership working and effective service delivery across the Division, ensuring clinical teams are involved in all decisions
- To deputise for the Divisional Director as required.
- To lead the monitoring/improvements/recovery of operational performance targets
- The post holder will work closely with Financial Sustainability/ Transformation
- Provide regular analysis of both elective and private services throughout the region

Person Specification
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Essential
Educated to Master's degree level or equivalent Proven previous experience of working within Operational management, or extensive leadership experience in an equally diverse and complex organisation Experience managing RTT pathways within a clinical division Detailed knowledge of Cancer pathways and performance Thorough knowledge and understanding of the concepts and practices of integrated service planning in complex organisations, analysing, synthesising and using complex data as the basis for strategic and tactical decisions, and scenario planning Experience of consultation, negotiation and influencing different stakeholders Experience of building personal and professional credibility with clinical and operational senior managers, other Directors, staff, and the public Experience of substantial operational management responsibility, built on extensive knowledge and understanding of financial, management and clinical issues associated with a large Acute Trust
