Job description
Job responsibilities
The Trust offers a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine services including PETCT, general Nuclear Medicine studies, SPETCT, and radionuclide therapy. The Nuclear Medicine department is dynamic and innovative, specialising in non-FDG tracers such as amyloid brain PET, Ga-68 DOTATATE & PSMA, F-18 choline as well as being the leading centre in multiple molecular radiotherapy trials.
The Nuclear Medicine department is a leading centre in the UK in amyloid PET imaging in dementia and was also one of the first in the UK to introduce Ga-68 DOTATATE PET into clinical practice. The Trust is involved in the NHSE Phase 2 PETCT contract in partnership with the RM Partners consortium, which has seen a steady growth in PET activity over several years, and implemented rapid scanning and reporting turnaround times, including a FDS lung service.
Currently, the Trust has one digital PETCT based at Charing Cross Hospital. In order to continue delivering an effective PET service, we are currently in the process to add a second PETCT on the Charing Cross Hospital campus, to go live in 2027. We have also upgraded our NM specific software system this year, which is used throughout the department and will also be a reference site for the vendors.
The department has two SPECTCT scanners at the Hammersmith site, which were the first of its type to be installed in the world at the time.
