Job summary
Hope House Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in Gloucester and Swindon & Wiltshire Swindon & Wiltshire SARC in Swindon provide forensic, medical and aftercare services to victims of rape and sexual assault who either self-refer or are referred via the police or other agencies.
The main responsibility of the post-holder will be to carry out forensic medical examinations of adults, in accordance with GHC, FFLM, and GMC guidelines, in a trauma informed manner which minimises further distress.
They will also support the Sexual Offence Examiner (SOE) Nurses while on the escalation rota, providing appropriate medical and forensic advice.
A £100 (telephone cover) / £200 (on-call) retainer will be paid per on-call shift to ensure availability. £150 per call-out will be paid for each case attended. Agenda for Change pay arrangements will only apply for overtime and training,
The post holder will require access to a telephone, and in the event of a call out, will be expected to arrive at The SARC within 120 minutes or at other venues such as a hospital at an agreed time.
Main duties of the job
Carry out forensic medical examinations of victims of rape and sexual assault for Police and self-referrals in accordance with Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, Faculty of Forensic & Legal Medicine (FFLM), the Forensic Science Regulator's Code and GMC guidelines.
To provide telephone information, support and advice to police, crisis workers, SOE Nurses, other professionals and victims/carers.

The post-holder will provide on-call availability, contributing to the night-time rotas, weekends and bank holidays; and will be available to attend both SARCs (Hope House in Gloucester & The Gables SARC in Swindon), and on occasion at other off-site locations within an agreed time of 90 minutes.
The shift times are 07:00-19:15 and 19:00-07:15 Monday to Sunday.
They will also support the Sexual Offence Examiner (SOE) Nurses while on the escalation rota, providing appropriate medical and forensic advice.
