We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Histopathology Medical Secretary to join our dedicated secretarial team at Southend Hospital. In this vital role, you will perform a wide range of secretarial and administrative duties, supporting our clinical teams and ensuring the smooth, efficient running of the Histopathology service.

Main duties of the job
Provide comprehensive administrative support to Consultant Histopathologists, Specialty Drs, Specialist Registrars, and senior technical staff within a large and busy administrative team.
Process diagnostic reports efficiently and accurately, ensuring all patient pathways are managed in a timely manner and in accordance with national Cancer Waiting Times standards.
Support the smooth running of the histopathology service, contributing to effective communication, coordination, and workflow management across the department.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
To hold GCSE Maths & English grade C or above or equivalent certificate RSA/PCR typing/text transcription stage II or equivalent experience AMSPAR qualification/equivalent demonstrable skills
Knowledge & Experience Essential
Previous secretarial and typing experience Audio/copy typing ability to type at least 60 words per minute or working towards it. Experience of working with IT office packages
Desirable
Previous secretarial experience in a medical environment Sound knowledge of medical terminology Experience of using hospital administration systems
