Job summary
We are looking to expand our team with self-motivated, enthusiastic trainee practitioners with a desire to develop exceptional leadership skills and clinical experience within the urgent care settingand are delighted to offer training positions for two aspiring Advanced Clinical Practitioners to join our urgent care services across West Yorkshire.
You will be required to work well under pressure within a busy and vibrant environment, whilst striving to deliver outstanding care and patient experience.
Successful applicants will undertake the MSc Advanced Practice at the University of Huddersfield commencing September 2026. Whilst carrying out supervised clinical practice across Local Care Direct urgent care services, you will be supported by dedicated members of the education faculty including GPs and ACPs. You will gain the skills required to undertake clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients presenting with undiagnosed and undifferentiated conditions. You will develop advanced skills in clinical decision making, critical thinking and clinical management supported by a local competency framework and evidence-based practice.
If successful at interview, you will also need to apply for a place on the MSc Advanced Practice course with University of Huddersfield for the September 2026 intake; the offer of employment will reflect this and employment into the training post is expected to commence Monday 7 September 2026.

On successful completion of the Advanced Clinical Practice programme and obtaining a PGDip in Health Studies, candidates will be expected to transition to a substantive position as an Advanced clinical practitioner across Local Care Direct services. The candidate will be supported and is expected to complete the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice during the 12 months after achieving the PG Dip, if not completed during this time this element will need to be completed in the clinicians own time.
Interviews will be held on Thursday 18th June and/or Friday 19th June 2026
Important: This training post is not the apprenticeship route, with organisational sponsorship process applying. Candidates will be employed at 37.5 hours per week, you will be provided with 15 hours per week protected learning time to attend university and for supervised practice.

Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical:
The post holder will undertakethe relevant courserequiredto fulfil the training post requirements
The post holder will work as a trainee under the supervision of a clinical educator or an experienced member of the clinical team, to providefirst contactclinicalassessment, diagnosis andtreatment forpatients attending with undiagnosed and undifferentiated conditions.
Throughout the training programme the post holder will develop the skills of an autonomous practitioner ensuring that evidence-based practice is inherent in all aspects of care and treatment
Act as a referral agent and care co-ordinator by establishing multi-agency collaboration across the primary/secondary interface to meet the needs of the patient under supervision.
Work under supervision with confidence and competence within professional guidelines
Work within the parameters of current nurse prescribing legislationifappropriateand/orapproved Patient Group Directives toinitiatepharmacological interventions
Recognise patients with changing health status and takeappropriate actions
Clinically examine and assess patient needs holistically and plan clinicalcare accordingly
Maintainaccurate, contemporaneous electronic patient record
Research and Quality:
Demonstrate evidence-based care, working within agreed guidelines and protocols
Take an active role in research studies within the policy framework of the organisation.
Participate in audit, datacollectionand activity monitoring to improve performance and inform future service developments.
