About this role

Job summary

We are seeking an exceptional senior leader to join our Trust as Director of Children's Services.

Reporting to the Group Chief Integration and Delivery Officer, the Director of Children's Services is the Trust's most senior operational lead for the Children's Care Delivery Pathway. You will provide visible, credible leadership across a diverse portfolio of children and young people's services, with overall responsibility for performance, quality, governance and strategic direction in line with the Trust Strategy.

This is a highly influential role, acting as the primary operational point of contact for system partners and stakeholders, and representing the Trust at external operational forums and regional and national events.

Main duties of the job

The Director of Children's Services will have operational responsibility for CYP and future Lead Provider model, leading the Trust's contribution to the SEND agenda, working closely with system partners to deliver integrated, effective services for children and young people.

Knowledge and Experience Essential

Professional knowledge in a relevant discipline acquired through specialist training to a doctorate level or equivalent knowledge, experience and competency in a range of disciplines Recognised management qualifications in Health or Social Care field (diploma level or higher) or equivalent experience. Evidence of management development through Continuous Professional Development and/or formal management courses. Recent significant experience at senior level management within the NHS (or can demonstrate how you would apply your experience in the NHS) with proven track record of using professional knowledge (managerial and/or clinical) to bring about change

Skills and Abilities Essential

Highly developed level of interpersonal, communications and influencing skills that enable highly complex, sensitive or contentious technical issues to be explained in clear and concise terms and appropriate action to be understood. Able to think analytically, anticipating obstacles and thinking ahead. Uses analytical techniques to identify several solutions to the problem or issue. Highly developed verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to synthesise and articulate highly complex information and build rapport with a diverse audience. Ability to lead others through change, building commitment and managing complexity and uncertainty.
