About this role

Mycronic is a global high-tech company whose innovative solutions have been advancing electronics technology for over 50 years. Today we continue to grow and serve customers in an expanding variety of industries. What we do impacts the future of technology, and in turn, the way we live our lives tomorrow. We’re looking for people to join our talented, motivated and friendly team on the cutting-edge. Here, in an open, collaborative and flexible environment, you’ll work alongside leading industry experts and take on challenging projects that bring tomorrow’s electronics to life.

About the role

We continue to grow within an expanding range of industries, and the Pattern Generator (PG) division holds a unique position in the market as the world's leading supplier of laser-based mask writers for photomask manufacturing, which, in turn, are used to produce high-resolution displays and semiconductors. For any high-resolution display produced in larger volumes that you see, whether it is a TV, phone, tablet, or smartwatch, Mycronic’s machines are a critical part of the manufacturing process. Our product portfolio also includes inspection machines that help ensure the quality of the photomasks used in display and semiconductors manufacturing.

In this role, you will be part of a larger team of 18 people responsible for the software and data processing that enable the machines to carry out their operations. The team works across a wide range of areas, from applications and data conversion to operating systems, computer hardware and internal networks. A key part of the work involves preparing and processing large volumes of data, with high demands on performance and reliability. This role will give you a broad understanding of how software and hardware interact within a complex system. You are not expected to know everything from day one. Curiosity, a willingness to learn and the ability to collaborate with colleagues with different areas of expertise are just as important.

Work tasks

In this role, you will have the opportunity to combine new product development with problem-solving and the continuous improvement of existing systems. Your primary focus will be software development in Java, where you will contribute to enhancing existing features, modernising systems, and addressing technical challenges within an advanced product environment. Your responsibilities will also include troubleshooting issues reported by customers, testing on physical test systems, and optimising code where performance is critical.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Developing and enhancing product software, primarily in Java.

Implementing new features and contributing to the modernisation of existing solutions while ensuring compatibility with previous product versions.

Writing tests and verifying functionality on physical test systems across various computer and system configurations.

Handling customer support cases through analysis and troubleshooting.

Developing software for user interaction and generating executable programs for the system.

Collaborating with colleagues across different technical disciplines to understand problems, identify solutions, and ensure that changes work seamlessly across the entire system.

Contributing ideas and suggestions for improvement as part of an ongoing product development process, driven by customer feedback and technological advancements.

We are looking for

To succeed in this role, you are curious and eager to understand how technology works as a whole. You take initiative, work independently and take ownership of your tasks, from initial analysis through to the delivery of a finished solution. At the same time, you are a team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and collaborating with others to achieve the best possible results. You are also adaptable, able to adjust when circumstances change, and thrive in a fast-paced development environment.

Furthermore, you have

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.

At least a few years of experience in software development, working with products that combine both hardware and software.

Good knowledge of Java or experience with another object-oriented programming language, such as C++.

Experience in software development in a Linux environment.

Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.

It is considered an advantage if you also have:

Experience in user interface development, preferably using frameworks such as React or similar.

Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
