Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for the effective and efficient operational management of the allocated theatre specialities; including budget control, clinical governance, staff development and training.
The post holder will be expected to provide professional leadership within the clinical area and provide direction, and inspirational leadership to all members of the multi-disciplinary team within the are they are accountable for.
To be a clinical expert and hold continuing responsibility for the delivery of high quality patient care.
To be responsible for the supervision and development of all nurses, practitioners, students and support workers.
To effectively manage the designated specialty or specialty group resources including, budgets, human, financial and physical facilities.
Develop and promote the role of theatre speciality or specialty group
Main duties of the job
To demonstrate clinical expertise in practice in own surgical speciality or specialtygroupTo be responsible for the assessment of patient care needs and the development,implementation and evaluation of plans of care, ensuring high standards ofevidence-based care using a defined model of care.To undertake all nursing procedures in accordance with Trust and theatre policiesand ensure that these procedures and policies are understood. Theatre policiesand procedures must be research based and adhered to by all staff, within ownmanagement responsibility, whilst being constantly monitored and reviewed.To ensure communication with patients and significant others is established,ensuring empathy and reassurance regarding, assessment, care and treatment.To ensure accurate and comprehensive nursing / theatre records, in all formats,are maintained using appropriate documentation.Practice continuous responsibility for the allocated specialty or specialty group.To establish effective working relations with all members of the multidisciplinary team to promote good communication and a multi-disciplinaryapproach to patient care.Demonstrate knowledge of contemporary clinical practice, explore new ideas andintroduce positive evidence-based change in line with local and national initiatives,
