MDT Coordinator

Department: Cancer Services

Band 4, £28,392 - £31,157 Per annum, pro rata

Hours: Part time, 15 per week (Wednesday and Friday), all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Cancer MDT Coordination team in a job-share capacity. We are seeking one or two skilled administrators to support our multi-disciplinary teams by meticulously tracking patient pathways and ensuring the accuracy of national cancer waiting times datasets and disease registration.As a Coordinator, you are the backbone of the patient journey. You will:

Track every step of a suspected cancer pathway to ensure no patient is missed.

Prepare and facilitate treatment planning meetings (MDTs), including live-typing outcomes.

Escalate potential delays and ensure clinical information is shared securely with partner hospitals.

Navigate multiple clinical systems to maintain data integrity under tight weekly deadlines.

About You

We are looking for conscientious individuals with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to absorb complex clinical information. You should thrive in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable with high-volume data entry. Whether working independently or as part of a team, you must be proactive in managing patients across all and any tumour sites.

To actively track patients progress on a daily basis, throughout the patient pathway to ensure care is carried out in a timely fashion and follows escalation and PTL (Patient Tracking List) processes.

To ensure that all cancer referrals received by Trust are record in a timely fashion into Somerset/PTL and patients have a booked first appointment, investigation and procedure and record details on the appropriate electronic system.

Person Specification

Qualifications and knowledge Essential

Good general education including English minimum of 5 GCSE (Grade A to C) or equivalent. Strong IT skills in relation to Microsoft packages including word/excel to NVQ level 3. Typing qualification or equivalent experience. ECDL qualification or equivalent

Experience Essential

Ability to accurately and efficiently input and retrieve information on a computerised system whilst adhering to complex local and national policies and guidelines. Experience of handling inbound and outbound telephone calls of a potentially sensitive nature. Working in a busy environment dealing with large numbers of the queries from staff or the general public.

Desirable

Healthcare experience. Experience of using video conferencing equipment. Relevant secretarial/ administration experience working within a clinical environment. Experience of using IT/Patient data Systems. Audio typing experience. Experience of using: ? E-Care ? EDM ? E-Referral ? Winpath ? PAC's / Insight ? ICE ? Unisoft ? Somerset Cancer Register (SCR) or similar

Skills Essential

Excellent communication skills both written and oral, including ability to relate to people. Self-motivated, well organised with ability to take responsibility for own work. Experience or working in a multidisciplinary team and developing effective working relationships with staff at all levels. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to plan, prioritise, time manage, use attention to detail and work to deadlines Evidence of working under pressure to tight deadlines and deal with difficult situations e.g. weekly schedule/deadlines, conflicting priorities or challenging conversations Manage and interpret data correctly to inform decision making. Take responsibility for own actions, behaviours and achievement of work objectives and goals. Minute taking skills.

Must be able to work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team. Stay composed with conflicting priorities. Ability to be flexible and use initiative. Must maintain a professional approach at all times
