Job summary
Papworth Surgery is looking to recruit a motivated and organised Pharmacy Technician to join our busy and friendly primary care team for 30hrs per week. This role will support the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective prescribing services, helping to improve patient outcomes.
Main duties of the job
Undertake medicines reconciliation following hospital discharge and clinic lettersSupport and manage repeat prescription processes in line with practice policiesRespond to patient and clinician medication queriesAssist with medication reviews and auditsPromote safe and cost-effective prescribingMaintain accurate patient medication recordsWork collaboratively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, and administrative staffSupport medicines optimisation and patient safety initiatives

The Pharmacy Technician will support the practice in delivering safe, effective, and high-quality prescribing services. The role involves managing repeat prescriptions, carrying out medicines reconciliation, and responding to medication queries from patients and clinical staff. The postholder will work closely with GPs, pharmacists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to promote medicines optimisation, maintain accurate patient records, and contribute to patient safety initiatives.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Qualified Pharmacy Technician Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Good understanding of medicines management processes Excellent communication and organisational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Experience Desirable
Experience in GP practice or primary care setting Knowledge of EMIS or other clinical systems Experience of medication reviews and medicines optimisation
