We are looking for compassionate, motivated Registered Nurses to join our adult inpatient teams within the Long Term Unscheduled & Community Care Directorate (LTUCC).
Whether you are starting your nursing career, looking for a new clinical challenge or keen to develop in a particular specialty, our directorate offers varied and rewarding opportunities. You could support someone through an acute illness, develop your skills in cardiac or respiratory nursing, or help a patient regain independence following a stroke or a period of ill health.
Find an area that interests you
Our inpatient services include
- Acute Medical Unit: acute medical assessment and treatment, including enhanced care.
- Acute Frailty Unit: early assessment and treatment for older people living with frailty.
- Byland and Jervaulx: acute frailty care and management of complex needs.
- Wensleydale: specialist cardiac and respiratory nursing, including coronary care and respiratory support.
- Oakdale: endocrine, haematological and general medical care.
- Granby: stroke and neurological rehabilitation.
- Lascelles: inpatient rehabilitation and recovery.
- Trinity at Ripon Community Hospital: frailty rehabilitation, supporting patients towards greater independence.
Main duties of the job
Develop your clinical skills and confidence
Your development will reflect your experience, interests and the needs of your appointed ward. Through local induction, relevant education, supervised practice and competency assessment, you will build the knowledge and confidence to care for your patient group.
Depending on your clinical area, this could include developing skills in intravenous therapy, cardiac monitoring, respiratory support, enteral feeding, frailty assessment or rehabilitation.
As you gain experience, there are opportunities to develop your leadership skills, work towards nurse-in-charge competencies, support students and newly qualified colleagues, and contribute to quality improvement. Regular appraisal and a personal development plan will help you identify your next steps.
Make a difference throughout the patient journey
You will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate individualised nursing care, working closely with patients, families and carers. Alongside nursing and medical colleagues, therapists, pharmacists and community services, you will support patients to recover, manage their conditions and prepare for a safe discharge.
We welcome applications from experienced Registered Adult Nurses and newly qualified nurses. Current NMC registration is required before starting in the role.
You will work a range of shifts, including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
