As a Front of House team, we are looking for part-time (25.5 hours per week) Specialist Occupational Therapist or experienced Band 5 seeking a development post to join us across Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke Hospital within our Emergency Department, Medical Admissions Unit and Short Stay Wards.

This role uses excellent communication and teamwork to support patients in returning to their home and preventing unnecessary admissions to hospital wherever possible.

Main duties of the job

To enable Occupational Therapy to provide Therapy Skills within the inpatient service To ensure safe, efficient and effective delivery of patient focussed care in line with identified evidence based practice, local and national standards To work collaboratively within Multidisciplinary and Multi-agency Teams To participate in delegated projects for service development with the team To act autonomously in the assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have a complex presentation To demonstrate a flexible approach to working in support of the whole inpatient team To undertake weekend working as required within service developments To be available to provide Clinical Supervision This role entails 80% Clinical Contact and 20% Operational Management as appropriate within team requirements To guide Band 5 and support staff in the management and delivery of therapeutic care plans

Person Specification

Qualifcations Essential

Current HCPC Registration Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapist

Desirable

RCOT member

Experience Essential

Completed a variety of band 5 rotations; for PT in respiratory, musculoskeletal and neurology and OT in general medicine/ medicine for older people, orthopaedics and neurology Acute physical hospital experience Have completed preceptorship programme

Desirable

Experience of supervising pre-graduate students and/or support workers

Knowledge Essential

Clinical knowledge in clinical conditions associated with specialist area/sound level in theoretical knowledge of in-patient areas Sound knowledge of the multi-disciplinary team Experience in use of basic IT systems (Microsoft packages) & data recording

Desirable

Awareness and understanding of community services and D2A pathway

Key Skills/Abilities Essential

Able to work as a team member and independently Good Clinical Reasoning skills Ability to present information in logical concise manner

Aptitudes Essential

Ability to manage own time and pressure Ability to demonstrate personal and clinical effectiveness to achieve optimum patient care Strong belief in CPD and Reflective Practice
