Job summary
This is a post for applicants who have completed stage 1 Anaesthesia training.
The post is ideal for applicants between CT and higher anaesthesia / ICM training.
We welcome applicants who are currently in the process of applying for a training post in anaesthesia / ICM.
Main duties of the job
The post is required to meet the increasing demand for anaesthetic and Critical Care services within the Trust. The post will be a combination of service lists, teaching lists and out of hours.
Note that some of the on-call commitment will be twilight shifts at Weston General Hospital where you may be expected to work flexibly between the anaesthesia and critical care teams

Knowledge and Experience Essential
Able to assess, resuscitate and stabilise acutely sick patients Able to participate as key member of cardiac arrest team with advanced airway skills Demonstrates good clinical judgement Understands audit and governance processes
Desirable
Completed specialist skills courses (e.g. difficult airways, advanced life support course) Able to anaesthetise and care for complex cases with appropriate supervision Designed and / or completed audits
Skills and Abilities Essential
Ability to organise and prioritise workload Good communication skills Honesty and reliability Ability to work effectively within a team Flexibility Inquiring and critical approach to work Demonstrates initiative Ability to cope with stressful situations and take responsibility and be appropriately assertive Ability to gain confidence of both staff and patients
Desirable
Ability to take on administrative roles within the Department A willingness to undertake additional clinical duties when necessary, including cover for colleagues on leave
Qualifications and Training Essential
Registered with General Medical Council (UK) Completed stage 1 training in anaesthesia Previous NHS anaesthesia experience
Desirable
FRCA (Part 1) or equivalent Other membership, fellowship or diplomas Previous experience of working in the British Healthcare system (not observing)
