Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Colorectal team as a Pathway Co-ordinator (Administrator) role on a full time permanent basis.
The post will provide administration support to the Colorectal Triage Team and the Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialists with a range of administration tasks, including answering phone calls, producing clinical letters, clinic outcomes and maintaining databases of patients to ensure patients are tracked and progressing through their pathway.
You should be educated to a good standard of English (GCSE or equivalent) and have an advanced level of IT literacy with experience of using a range of IT applications. You should be confident answering phone calls from patients and assisting with queries.
Main duties of the job
- To act as the point of contact for patients and medical staff on behalf of the consultant and the team ensuring that all queries are answered with skill, sensitivity and in a courteous and professional manner.- Typing and despatch of clinical correspondence related to NHS medical patients within agreed timescales and quality standards.- To ensure that urgent test results/correspondence is brought to the immediate attention of the Consultant or their team.- An understanding of the 2ww and 62 day cancer pathway.- Input patient information onto the various IT systems.- Managing patient referrals on ERS, outcoming clinics and uploading referrals to CITO.- Tracking patients through the cancer pathway and maintaining databases of patients.- Ensure that notes and results are prepared and available prior to the patient episode.- Access Policy and an agreement to adhered to these policies according to National Trust Guidelines.- Accurately informing patients/clinicians of outcomes and information to influence the effective service delivery for all patients including waiting list queries.- Liaise effectively with wards and departments within the hospital.- To escalate any urgent problems to a senior manager.- Undertake necessary training as and when required by the Trust.
