Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Surgical Division, and we are looking for motivated and compassionate Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our busy surgical inpatient wards. You will be delivering high-quality care across a variety of surgical specialties, including Orthopaedics, General Surgery, ENT, and Urology.

There are a number of positions available across the surgical division. If you are successful, your application will be aligned to the most appropriate clinical ward vacancy, and your final allocation will be confirmed to you.

This role is suitable for newly qualified nurses, those returning to practice, or experienced Band 5 nurses seeking to further develop their skills within a supportive and dynamic ward environment.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering safe, effective and person-centered care to patients throughout their surgical journey, from admission through to discharge. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, ensuring excellent clinical outcomes and a positive patient experience.

You will:

Deliver high standards of individualised nursing care in line with professional, clinical and organisational standardsCare for patients undergoing elective and emergency surgical procedures. Support enhanced recovery pathways and discharge planningWork collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, patients and families. Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and service development. Supervise and support nursing associates, healthcare support workers and students. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and effective communication.
