An exciting opportunity has arisen for Registered Paediatric Nurses who are experienced, motivated and committed to provide a high standard of family centred care to join our Children's Nursing Team caring for Children and Young People.
The successful applicants will be based on the two Acute General Paediatrics Wards at The Royal Glamorgan Hospital and will be working as part of the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
The Paediatric Unit at The Royal Glamorgan Hospital has two 19 bedded wards working as a unit. Within Ward 18 there is a Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU), providing assessment, diagnostic, planned investigations and treatment service and surgical day unit. Ward 17 is the General ward with a 2 bedded High Dependency Area.
This post is currently rotational 12.5 hour shifts, days and night shifts, but other considerations can be discussed at interview.
We have a Mentorship and Induction Programme for the newly Registered Staff Nurse, or a Supervisory support period for experienced Nurses joining our team. The team will offer support and guidance, and there are many opportunities available for training and your own personal development.
We are a friendly, enthusiastic and innovative team who strive to do their best for every child, young person and their family. We work very closely with all other multi-disciplines within the Health Board.
Main duties of the job
To take responsibility for the ward, for a span of duty, on a shift by shift basis in the absence of the ward manager/deputy sister.
To work as a skilled member of the team and to provide high standards of holistic care to the child and family in a variety of settings.
Be an effective team leader and role model to new/less experienced staff and others.
Work as a flexible member of the ward team in support of the senior members of the team.
The post holder is required to be accountable for their own actions and of those directly under their supervision.
Post holder will follow clearly defined policies and procedures and the NMC code of conduct.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements.
