About this role
Job Description
The Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) is a government-owned, physics-based digital battlespace. The Navy and Air Force use it to test fifth-generation and next-generation combat aircraft, develop tactics, and train. NAWCAD built it first to support F-35 operational testing.
In JSE, the pilots fly domed cockpit simulators. Those sims run actual aircraft flight software against thousands of friendly and adversarial air and surface entities. Weather is in the model and so is the electromagnetic spectrum, weapons, and advanced threats. Dense classified scenarios that open-air ranges cannot safely or affordably run get flown here. Performance in JSE now shapes how warfighters, testers, and acquisition leaders judge a system.
The original site is NAS Patuxent River. Larger sites are coming up at Edwards AFB, Nellis AFB, NAS Fallon, and Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.
BAE Systems needs a technical leader who will keep our EW systems accurately represented across that network, and in other U.S. Government modeling environments.
Job Description
In this job, you will
- Lead the technical team that develops EW performance models for JSE and other government M&S environments.
- Architect system-level EW Models where fidelity, runtime, and flexibility all matter as test, training, and analysis pull in different directions.
- Build working relationships with JSE sites and program offices. BAE Systems EW products must be represented both accurately and favorably, and you will work closely with JSE technical leads to ensure success.
- Own validation and accreditation support, providing evidence, documentation, and government data packages.
- Work across engineering to turn hardware data, test results, and specs into validated models. Then bring simulation findings back to the product teams.
- Write presentation and technical documentation that hold up with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Brief stakeholders, SMEs, and customers on capabilities, results, and roadmaps.
- Support proposals and business development for modeling, simulation, and digital engineering.
- Handle data rights, classification, and releasability with security, contracts, and legal.
Required Skills and Education
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience in a relevant field) with a minimum work experience of:
- 10+ Years with BS
- 8+ Years with MS

- Possess an Active Secret Clearance with ability to possess Top Secret with Special Access clearances.
- Experience with radar systems, threat radars, Electronic Warfare, and RF concepts.
- Strong communication skills being able to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Possess an entrepreneurial attitude with the capability to work with challenging technical and organizational structures.
- Experience with modeling and simulation environments.
Preferred Skills and Education
- Experience developing EW Performance Models that have a demonstrated impact on programs of record.
- Critical thinker with strong troubleshooting skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to creatively innovate and tenaciously seek solutions.
- Experience with Software-In-The-Loop Modeling of EW Systems.
