As a Mechanical Specialist, you are a mechanical engineering professional who provides specialist expertise within multidisciplinary projects for the global iron and steel industry. You are responsible for defining, reviewing, and safeguarding technical solutions within the mechanical discipline throughout the project lifecycle, from proposal development and concept design to detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. Working closely with colleagues from different disciplines, customers, suppliers, and engineering partners, you help deliver reliable, safe, and practical engineering solutions. In this role, you combine technical expertise with a broad understanding of project execution and contribute to the continuous development of Danieli Corus technologies and products.
KEY Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and optimize mechanical concepts, designs, calculations, and technical solutions for projects and proposals.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, calculations, equipment data sheets, and design documents.
- Advise on mechanical design, materials selection, welding, fabrication, and applicable engineering standards.
- Evaluate technical proposals and support supplier and contractor selection processes.
- Develop engineering cost estimates and planning input in cooperation with Proposal Management, Procurement, and Project Management.
- Review and assess engineering deliverables from internal teams and external engineering partners, ensuring technical quality and compliance with project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements, applicable standards, company procedures, and Health, Safety & Environmental regulations, while identifying technical risks and supporting technical decision-making.
