Ward & Ward are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious HGV Driver to transport goods efficiently and professionally while ensuring full compliance with road transport regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for vehicle inspections, load security, accurate record-keeping, and maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- Key ResponsibilitiesOperate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) safely and professionally.
- Transport goods and materials to customer locations, warehouses, depots, and distribution centres.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report defects promptly.
- Ensure cargo is loaded, secured, and transported in accordance with safety regulations.
- Complete delivery documentation, tachograph records, and transport paperwork accurately.
- Comply with all road traffic laws, company policies, and transport legislation.
- Plan routes effectively to ensure timely deliveries and collections.
- Monitor vehicle performance and report maintenance requirements.
- Maintain high standards of vehicle cleanliness and roadworthiness.
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers, clients, and colleagues.
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
- Manage delivery schedules while adhering to drivers' hours regulations.
- Essential RequirementsValid HGV Licence (Category C or CE).Good knowledge of road transport regulations and drivers' hours legislation.
- Strong commitment to health and safety.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Clean driving record preferred.
- Desirable Skills and ExperiencePrevious experience in long-distance, multi-drop, or international transport.
- Experience with articulated vehicles, refrigerated trailers, container transport, or low loaders.
- Knowledge of load securing procedures and vehicle maintenance checks.
