Macon R-1 School District is accepting applications for a Maintenance Technician.
The Maintenance Technician helps maintain and repair district buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe, functional, and attractive learning environment for students, staff, and the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Complete work orders for building repairs, furniture/equipment assembly, and minor renovations
- Assist with grounds maintenance, snow removal, and seasonal tasks
- Inspect facilities to identify safety hazards and maintenance needs; report findings promptly
- Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and district vehicles safely
- Support custodial and operations staff with set-ups for school events and emergencies
- Follow all OSHA, EPA, fire safety, and district safety procedures
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
- Respond to after-hours emergencies as assigned
- Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience in building, mechanical, or facilities maintenance preferred; trade certification a plus
- Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems helpful
- Ability to read and follow work orders, schematics, and safety instructions
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in varied weather conditions, and stand/walk for extended periods
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Team-oriented attitude, dependable, and willing to learn new skills
This position is a 12 month/260 day position.
