POSITION SUMMARY

Evergreen Outdoor Center is based in the Hakuba Valley, in the Nagano Prefecture of Japan. We have spots open for a Barista in a busy slope side restaurant. The candidate will be working as part of the Front of House team to ensure that a high level of customer service is provided to all guests.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greet and Welcome ALL guests and customers
• Prepare and serve coffee (or any beverage) in a timely and professional manner delivering high quality customer service
• Recommending menu items and have an excellent knowledge of the services offered by the cafe and promotes to our guests
• Learning about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation and presentation techniques to improve food quality
• Establish good relationship to the customer by providing utmost service standards
• Ensure that all beverage stocks are at par level. Ensure beverage items listed on the items are ALWAYS available for purchase and do not run out of inventory
• Ensure cleanliness of the workplace that includes but not limited to: work area, all operating machines and equipment, cups, saucers, glassware, silverware, refrigerators, freezers, sinks, storage cabinets, bar counter, sink, etc
• Prepare all orders on a timely manner
• Manage all the bills related to the outlet
• Improve, maintain, and adhere to all operational, safety and risk management procedures ensuring safe and efficient operation in adherence with all food & beverage standards
• Establish good working relationship with Managers and colleagues

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE

Tidying up front and back of house, replacing and or requesting the repair of Kitchen equipment, assisting with staff accommodation common areas and personal room clean-up /maintenance

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Due to the many variables that affect business operations, occasionally, employees may be asked to perform other duties or assist in efforts outside their primary area of responsibility, when admin staff deems it necessary. This may include performing in any subordinate position

GENERAL DUTIES

Daily

• Open and closing of venue
• Making drinks for guests
• Guarantee ALL customers receive quality of service that meets their expectations
• Carries out any promotions of coffee and café products and have an excellent knowledge of the services offered by the company and promotes to our guests
• Take orders and place to the kitchen/ cafe
• Acknowledge complaints from customers and guests. Deal directly within your responsibility and report to restaurant Manager
• Taking payments, both card and cash
• Ensure sales reports are printed and submitted with cash/credit card sales after end of each work shift. Ensure total responsibility for the cash float
• Restocking when needed
• Cleaning and maintaining the restaurant, guest areas and workspace
• Assisting running food
• Learn the local information of the area to provide general knowledge to guests
• Recycling and organizing the daily rubbish- Japan has a very detailed disposal system

Weekly

• Restocking and Rotating stock
• Preparing and submitting beverages order
• Ensure the cleanliness of areas related to the Bar including refrigerators, freezers, and storage rooms.
• Coordinate with Restaurant Manager to ensure that all beverage prices are within the hotel policy (updates and promotion can happen specially in high demand dates)
• Attending to the weekly meeting arranged by Restaurant Manager

Monthly

• Submitting Inventory and required reports or documents for manager to compile and share
• Conduct monthly inventory of all beverage items including cups, saucers, glasses, silverware
• Attend training as arranged by your team

Seasonal

• Participate in seasonal induction and onboarding
• Volunteer for an Evergreen or community event or gathering
• Return all Evergreen assets and prep for departure

REQUIRED PROFILE

• Preferably previous experience working as a Barista
• Knowledge about coffee and its variations
• Good social skills. Enjoy dealing with people
• English conversation level (any other language is a plus)
• Have flexibility to work additional hours based on demand
• Willingness to work as part of a high-energy, efficient team in a fast-paced environment
