About this role
Build AI agents that turn customer intent into action, and help shape how software is built at Amazon. Lead an AI-native engineering organization while staying hands-on with the code, architecture, and customer experience. As a Senior Manager of Software Development in Devices Software and Services, you will build and develop teams delivering intelligent experiences across mobile, web, and connected devices. You will prototype capabilities, guide technical decisions, and work alongside engineers to solve challenging problems in agent execution, memory, tool use, and evaluation.
You will also shape how engineers and coding agents work together throughout development, pairing rapid experimentation with rigorous testing, security, and operational ownership. This role offers the opportunity to build new customer experiences while establishing engineering practices that can influence how future Amazon products are created.
Key job responsibilities
- Build and lead an organization of software development managers and engineers. Hire and develop leaders, coach technical talent, and establish succession plans and an inclusive team culture.
- Own the technical strategy, roadmap, and resource plan across multiple teams. Connect investments to customer outcomes, sequence dependencies, and make explicit scope and staffing decisions.
- Guide architecture for agents that use models, tools, and memory to complete tasks over time. Establish reusable interfaces, reliable execution and recovery, and clear boundaries between shared services and product capabilities.
- Deliver coherent customer journeys across native iOS and Android applications, web experiences, and connected devices. Partner with product and design leaders to translate customer needs into accessible, responsive experiences.
- Advance AI-native development across the organization. Establish agent-executable specifications, coordinated coding-agent workflows, automated validation, and critical review of generated code. Use measured improvements in delivery time and quality to guide adoption and share effective practices across teams.
- Make testing and evaluation part of product delivery.
Work with applied scientists and domain experts to define task-success measures, representative scenarios, adversarial cases, and release criteria for agent behavior.
A day in the life
This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You might start by prototyping an agent capability or using coding agents to implement and test an idea. You could then work alongside engineers to review code, trace a failed agent execution, or improve an evaluation that exposed a product weakness. You will stay close to the code and customer experience, using what you learn to guide architectural decisions and engineering practices. Alongside this work, you will coach managers, develop technical leaders, and make roadmap and staffing decisions that help the organization deliver.
About the team
We bring together engineers, product managers, designers, and applied scientists to build AI products and the shared systems behind them. Our work connects agent intelligence with the applications customers use every day. We experiment quickly, learn from customer behavior, and take responsibility for operating what we ship. We also invest in the tools and engineering practices that help people and coding agents work effectively together.
