About this role

Are you a skilled collections professional who knows how to achieve results while maintaining positive client relationships? McKenzie Lake Lawyers is looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to take ownership of a client receivables portfolio, resolve payment issues, and help keep accounts moving. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will work closely with clients, lawyers, and finance colleagues in a role where sound judgement, persistence, and strong communication make a real impact.

This job posting is for an existing vacancy.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Take ownership of an assigned receivables portfolio and use aging reports to focus collection efforts
  • Connect with clients to discuss overdue invoices, confirm payment timing, and arrange practical payment solutions
  • Investigate billing concerns, account discrepancies, credits, short payments, and unapplied funds
  • Partner with lawyers, billing staff, and finance colleagues to remove barriers to payment
  • Track commitments, maintain accurate collection notes, and escalate high-risk accounts when needed
  • Share meaningful updates on collection progress and support reconciliations and period-end reporting

What Will Help You Succeed

You bring at least five years of progressive experience in accounts receivable, credit, or collections and are comfortable managing a busy portfolio. Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is preferred, although an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience in a law firm or professional services environment and a credit designation are assets.

  • A confident, respectful approach to collection and payment discussions
  • Strong judgement, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
  • The ability to organize competing priorities, follow through, and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word; experience with ProLaw or a similar system is an asset

Compensation will be based on relevant experience, education, skills, and job-related knowledge.

This is an in-office role.
