Medical Records Retrieval Specialist (Entry-Level)

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Retrieval Specialist to support healthcare quality initiatives and HEDIS medical record collection projects. This role is ideal for candidates with strong data entry and customer service skills who enjoy working in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You will partner with provider offices and medical facilities to obtain, organize, and track medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality and accuracy standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Contact medical facilities and provider offices via phone, fax, and mail to request and collect patient medical records.
• Work closely with medical record reviewers to ensure records received are complete and support quality review initiatives.
• Conduct follow-up outreach and additional record pursuits as needed.
• Accurately enter, file, maintain, and track medical record information within company systems.
• Perform data entry and other project-related administrative tasks.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient and operational information in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Support team goals and assist with additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong data entry, computer, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and internet-based applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a production-driven environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in healthcare, managed care, or health plan environments.
• Experience with HEDIS projects, medical records, health information management, or release of information processes.
• Familiarity with medical record documentation and healthcare compliance standards.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Long Beach, CA.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
