Yard Jockey Position in Harrisburg, PA!

As a Rail Yard Operator, you'll be at the center of terminal operations, helping ensure freight moves safely and efficiently across the rail network.In this role, you will:

• Operate jockey/hostler trucks to move trailers, containers, and chassis throughout the rail yard.
• Assist with loading and unloading freight from railcars and trailers.
• Work closely with crane operators and terminal personnel to coordinate freight movement.
• Help maintain the safe, efficient flow of rail and truck traffic throughout the facility.
• Perform safety-focused inspections and follow operational procedures.
• Play a key role in keeping trains on schedule and freight moving to customers across North America.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience loading and unloading trailers, containers, or freight.
• General labor, warehouse, logistics, transportation, or industrial experience.
• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and moving vehicles.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.

Work Environment

This is an outdoor, hands-on position where you'll be working in all seasons and weather conditions. You should be comfortable:

• Working outdoors year-round in rain, snow, heat, and cold.
• Being on your feet and remaining physically active throughout your shift.
• Operating hostler equipment designed for rail yard operations.
• Working as part of a close-knit team in a fast-moving environment.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Harrisburg, PA.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.93 - $21.88/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
