About this role

Job Title: CNC MachinistJob DescriptionThis role involves setting up, operating, and performing program edits on CNC machines, with a focus on Okuma mill-turn equipment, to produce both non-flight and flight-critical hardware. You will ensure parts meet quality and delivery expectations by managing tools, maintaining machines, and performing on-machine deburring to support consistent, high-precision production.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines, with emphasis on Okuma mill-turn equipment, to produce precision non-flight and flight-critical hardware.
  • Perform program edits at the machine to optimize processes, improve part quality, and resolve production issues as needed.
  • Prioritize daily production tasks to meet customer need dates while maintaining consistent, high-quality output.
  • Manage CNC cutting tools by ensuring all required tools are properly selected, loaded, measured, and verified before program execution.
  • Perform on-machine deburring of hardware to improve part quality, consistency, and reduce the need for manual post-processing.
  • Monitor machine performance during operation and make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly CNC machine preventative maintenance to ensure reliable operation and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Follow established work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards throughout all machining activities.
  • Inspect parts during and after machining to confirm they meet specified tolerances and quality requirements, and report any nonconformances.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 1+ years of experience in CNC machining.
  • Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC machines, preferably with mill-turn configurations.
  • Ability to perform basic CNC program edits at the machine control to adjust operations and improve results.
  • Proficiency in managing CNC cutting tools, including loading, measuring, and verifying tools prior to running programs.
  • Capability to perform on-machine deburring to achieve consistent part quality.
  • Experience performing routine preventative maintenance on CNC machines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts, including flight-critical hardware.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
  • Willingness to follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience operating Okuma mill-turn CNC equipment or similar multi-axis machines.
  • Familiarity with machining both non-flight and flight-critical components to tight tolerances.
  • Basic understanding of CNC machine controls and troubleshooting minor operational issues.
  • Comfort working with production documentation, work instructions, and quality requirements.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in continuous improvement of machining processes.

Why Work Here? You will join a production-focused environment where precision, reliability, and quality are highly valued. The organization supports skill development in advanced CNC machining, including exposure to mill-turn equipment and flight-critical work, offering opportunities to grow your technical expertise. You will work in a setting that emphasizes safety, consistency, and continuous improvement, with clear expectations and a focus on delivering high-value products to customers.

Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a manufacturing environment centered around CNC machining operations, including Okuma mill-turn equipment. You will spend most of your time on the shop floor, working directly with machines, cutting tools, and production materials. The role involves standing for extended periods, handling tools and components, and working around running machinery and associated noise. Work follows structured production schedules and preventive maintenance routines, with a strong emphasis on safety procedures, equipment care, and adherence to quality standards. Appropriate industrial work attire and personal protective equipment are required in designated areas.
