What You Can Expect

The Supplier Manager serves as Zimmer Biomet’s dedicated account and relationship manager for one or many strategic external suppliers. Connect Zimmer Biomet teams with supplier leadership to monitor performance, meet commitments, address risks early, and improve supply chain continuity across planning, production, quality, and logistics.

How You'll Create Impact

  • Manage day-to-day operational relationships with assigned strategic suppliers and build effective working relationships with supplier management, production, quality, and planning teams.
  • Monitor delivery, lead time, quality, and backlog performance through KPIs and scorecards; review results against commitments and agreed forecasts and align corrective actions with supplier leadership.
  • Maintain operational visibility at supplier sites; identify emerging planning, production, quality, procurement, and logistics issues and coordinate resolution with supplier and Zimmer Biomet teams.
  • Lead issue follow-up, root-cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions; escalate critical supply risks to the appropriate operations and supply chain leaders.
  • Prepare and lead supplier S&OP performance discussions, align on actions, and track them through completion.
  • Drive supplier operational improvements, including lead-time reduction, yield, throughput, and productivity improvements.
  • Coordinate supplier-related product lifecycle activities, including new product introduction, engineering changes, and phase-outs; align demand, capacity, and delivery schedules with supplier planners.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Supplier relationship management, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to influence and hold performance discussions without direct authority.
  • Experience with structured problem-solving and root-cause methods (such as 8D, fishbone, or 5 Whys), driving corrective actions to sustainable closure, and applying continuous-improvement or lean methods.
  • Ability to interpret supply agreements, lead-time commitments, and demand forecasts; facilitate supplier reviews; and coordinate across planning, procurement, quality, operations, and supplier teams.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain significant on-site supplier presence and travel across a multi-site supplier portfolio.
  • Experience in MedTech, orthopedics, or another regulated manufacturing environment; exposure to machining, casting, forging, finishing, assembly, or sterile packaging operations in these settings is an advantage.

Your Background

  • Degree in supply chain management, operations, industrial engineering, manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in supplier management, supplier quality, operations management, or supply chain, with substantial interaction with external suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage supplier performance using KPIs, scorecards, and structured governance or review forums.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and supplier shop-floor operations, including relevant processes such as machining, casting, forging, finishing, and assembly.
  • Experience with ERP or planning systems such as SAP ECC, SAP IBP, or equivalent, with strong analytical and data-interpretation skills.

Travel Expectations

  • Approximately 10% overnight travel to be expected with periods of more intense travel possible.
