Salary: £65,000 - 75,000 per year
Requirements
- Full right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available
- 7+ years of commercial software engineering experience
- Strong commercial experience with React
- Backend development experience with Node.js, Express.js and Python
- Experience collaborating with UX/UI designers to build intuitive digital products
- Strong understanding of software architecture and modern engineering practices
- Experience reviewing code and mentoring developers across frontend and backend technologies
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or Cursor
- Commercial experience building proof of concepts, MVPs and greenfield applications
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and Docker/containerised applications
- Strong understanding of OAuth, authentication and secure API design
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive, product-focused mindset and passion for solving complex problems
- Desirable: experience with AI-powered applications, LLMs, generative AI, microservices, GraphQL, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, event-driven architecture, Agile product development or WCAG accessibility
- Relevant technology stack includes React, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, Express.js, Python, Microsoft Azure, Docker, OAuth, REST APIs, Git, AI-assisted development tools and CI/CD
Responsibilities
- Design and build full-stack applications from concept through to production
- Develop proof of concepts, prototypes and MVPs for AI-driven products
- Architect scalable, maintainable software solutions
- Build modern user interfaces using React and collaborate with UX/UI designers on user experiences
- Develop backend services and APIs using Node.js, Express.js and Python
- Design and implement secure authentication and authorisation using OAuth
- Build and integrate cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure
- Containerise applications using Docker
- Review code across React, Node.js, Express.js and Python applications
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering quality, productivity and code generation
- Collaborate with Product, Design and AI teams to shape technical direction
- Produce technical plans, solution designs and architectural documentation
- Work with customers and stakeholders to validate ideas before scaling products
