Position Summary

The Butcher Block Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the full-service butcher counter, ensuring exceptional customer service, product quality, food safety compliance, and operational efficiency. This position leads department associates, maintains fresh and appealing displays, supports sales growth, and ensures all products meet company standards for quality and freshness.

Key Responsibilities Department Operations

• Supervise daily operations of the Butcher Block and service counter.
• Ensure fresh, attractive, and fully stocked meat displays throughout operating hours.
• Maintain product quality, freshness, rotation, and presentation standards.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs to department leadership.
• Ensure proper execution of merchandising plans, promotions, and seasonal programs.
• Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards.

Customer Service

• Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming shopping experience.
• Assist customers with product selection, cooking recommendations, special orders, and custom cutting requests.
• Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
• Promote department services and value-added products to increase sales and customer loyalty.

Food Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Monitor proper handling, storage, labeling, rotation, and temperature controls.
• Conduct routine quality inspections and remove products that do not meet company standards.
• Ensure associates follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Leadership & Team Development

• Train, coach, and develop Butcher Block associates.
• Assign daily responsibilities and monitor work performance.
• Foster teamwork, accountability, and a customer-focused culture.
• Provide ongoing feedback and support to improve associate performance and engagement.
• Assist department leadership with staffing and scheduling needs.

Sales & Financial Performance

• Support achievement of department sales, shrink, labor, and profitability goals.
• Identify opportunities to increase sales through effective merchandising and customer engagement.
• Monitor waste and shrink levels and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Assist with inventory counts and operational reporting as required.
