About this role
Quantum Systems next-generation unmanned solutions across air, land, and sea. From advanced aerial drones to underwater and ground platforms, our systems combine cutting-edge hardware with AI-driven software for seamless control and real-time data insights. Trusted by defense, security, and public sector clients worldwide, we redefine mission versatility and performance. Quantum-Systems is a strong supporter of Ukraine and has it’s local Ukrainian office since 2022.
As Senior Systems Engineer you will be responsible for become a core member of the newly established Systems Engineering function in Ukraine, supporting the development and evolution of complex unmanned aerial systems and their supporting software, communication, payload, and ground-control components. This is a full-time office job. Candidates must be located in Kyiv.
What is your Day to Day
Mission
- System Context & Functional Analysis – Translate product Capabilities, operational scenarios and ConOps into a clear technical system context, including system boundaries, actors, operating modes, states, assumptions and external interactions.
- Trade Studies & Technical Feasibility – Perform structured technical feasibility assessments and trade studies, evaluating alternatives, constraints, risks and system-level consequences and preparing evidence-based engineering recommendations.
- System Requirements Engineering – Develop, analyze, refine and maintain system-level requirements that are unambiguous, feasible, measurable and verifiable, including rationale, applicability, criticality and traceability.
- System Architecture Development – Contribute to and develop functional, logical and physical system architectures covering HW, SW, communication, payload, ground-control and other relevant system elements.
- Requirements Decomposition & Allocation – Decompose system requirements and allocate functions, performance constraints and technical responsibilities to subsystems and engineering domains while maintaining end-to-end traceability.
- Subsystem Technical Contracts – Define the system-level technical expectations for individual subsystems, ensuring engineering teams have clear requirements, constraints, interfaces and verification intent without prescribing their detailed implementation.
- Interface Management – Define, coordinate and maintain cross-domain system interfaces, including mechanical, electrical, RF, data, API and HW/SW interfaces, and ensure consistency between participating engineering teams.
System Budgets & Constraints
- Support definition, allocation and assessment of relevant system budgets and cross-domain constraints such as mass, power, timing, bandwidth, computational resources and performance.
Verification & Validation Basis
- Define how system requirements shall be verified, including verification method, level, configuration, environment, measurable pass/fail criteria and expected evidence; contribute to the technical basis for capability validation.
Requirements Traceability
- Maintain end-to-end traceability between product Capabilities, system requirements, subsystem requirements, interfaces, implementation scope and verification evidence.
Engineering Change Impact Assessment – Analyze proposed changes, development constraints and V&V findings to identify their impact on requirements, architecture, interfaces, configurations, system risks and verification coverage.
- Technical Risk Management – Identify and assess system-level technical risks, assumptions, uncertainties and unresolved items and drive them toward technically justified resolution.
- Cross-Functional Engineering Collaboration – Work closely with Chief Engineers, Product Managers, Product Owners, HW/SW Team Leads, domain experts and V&V teams to resolve cross-domain technical topics and maintain overall system consistency.
- Engineering Reviews & Documentation – Prepare and review system requirements, architecture descriptions, interface definitions, trade studies, technical decisions, verification strategies and other systems engineering artefacts.
- Continuous Systems Engineering Development – Contribute to establishing and improving Systems Engineering methods, templates, tools and working practices as the function is built and scaled within the organization.
