Ready to grow with us?

Apply today and help us build a more inclusive, sustainable future in the world of satellite technology Role Overview Eutelsat is seeking an experienced End-to-End System Performance & Sizing Engineer to lead the definition, optimisation and assessment of system sizing and performance for next-generation satellite communication networks. This role spans all system domains, including user terminals, space segment, ground segment, network infrastructure, service platforms and operational systems. You will ensure that independently designed and delivered system elements collectively achieve the targeted end-to-end service objectives in terms of capacity, latency, availability and scalability.

Working at the intersection of systems engineering, performance modelling and solution architecture, you will define key performance budgets and targets, drive cross-segment design trade-offs, and coordinate the development and application of performance models to demonstrate compliance with mission and service requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary work stream composed of system, segment and modelling engineers.
  • Contribute to the definition, maintenance and evolution of system sizing assumptions and performance budgets.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the end-to-end system engineering database and ensure consistency of the overall system definition.
  • Coordinate modelling and simulation activities and define requirements for performance-tool enhancements.
  • Lead end-to-end performance assessments covering capacity, latency, availability and service scalability.
  • Ensure performance tradeoffs, analyses, assumptions and conclusions are appropriately documented and traceable.
  • Drive complex cross-domain trade studies involving user, space, ground and network segments Identify, quantify and communicate performance bottlenecks, technical risks and design constraints.
  • Define performance requirements and sizing allocations for system segments and suppliers.
  • Translate mission and service needs into measurable, traceable and verifiable system performance requirements.
  • Interface with business, program and engineering stakeholders to present performance assessments and justify design choices.
  • Interface with industrial partners and suppliers to influence design decisions and assess compliance with system requirements.
  • Contribute to requirements verification, validation and statements of compliance.
  • Ensure alignment and traceability between mission, system and segment-level requirements.
  • Re quired Experience 5-10 years of experience in systems engineering, system architecture, system performance engineering, modelling and simulation, or end-to-end architecture of complex telecommunications systems.
  • Master's degree or PhD in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in satellite communications, non-terrestrial networks (NTN), or LEO/MEO/GEO satellite systems.
  • Demonstrated experience defining and analysing end-to-end system performance, capacity planning and sizing activities.
  • Experience with satellite payload, user terminal, gateway, feeder-link or ground-segment design.

Experience decomposing service-level objectives into system and subsystem requirements with full technical traceability. Experience leading multidisciplinary technical investigations and trade studies. Experience working within complex development programmes involving multiple engineering disciplines and stakeholders. Experience with requirements and project-management tools such as Jira, DOORS, Polarion, Jama or equivalent. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to structure complex problems, define work plans and drive technical closure against challenging schedules.

Desirable Experience Experience with modelling and simulation activities with large scale performance tools. Experience supporting proposal activities, business cases or techno-economic trade-off analyses. Experience defining service-level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) Experience with 5G System architecture, including interactions between user equipment, NG-RAN, the 5G Core, transport networks and service platforms. Experience working on large-scale or multi-supplier telecommunications or satellite programmes.

Experience supporting system integration, verification, validation or operational-readiness activities. Familiarity with message flows, protocol stacks, interface data models and information-exchange modelling. Experience maintaining traceability across requirements, designs, supplier deliverables and verification evidence. Familiarity with model-based systems engineering, requirements-management tools or architecture-modelling tools. Candidate Profile You are a highly analytical and structured systems engineer who thrives at the interface between engineering disciplines, suppliers and business stakeholders.

You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, structuring complex technical problems and driving alignment across large engineering teams. You can: Deeply analyse complex technical topics while maintaining a clear understanding of mission objectives and system-level impacts. Lead technical discussions and influence decisions without relying on formal authority. Build consensus across organisational, disciplinary and supplier boundaries. Facilitate alignment between the owners of interconnected system elements. Identify ambiguity, inconsistency and gaps in technical definitions and requirements.

Drive complex trade-offs towards robust, evidence-based decisions. Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. Clearly articulate design rationale, assumptions, dependencies and risks. Manage competing priorities and perform effectively in high-pressure programme environments. Challenge assumptions constructively and promote data-driven decision-making. Maintain a strong focus on traceability, technical rigour and execution excellence. Eutelsat treats the protection of personal data submitted to it seriously. By submitting this application, you agree to the collection and retention of your personal data by Eutelsat and acknowledge notice of, and understand the terms of Eutelsat’s Privacy Policy (as amended from time to time).
