About this role
We are looking to hire a Manufacturing Test Engineer immediately. The candidate will develop, configure, validate, and support manufacturing test and validation processes from PCBA level through subassembly, box-build, finished product, end-of-line, and RMA/returned-product testing. This role will ensure robust test coverage, reliable measurement systems, and effective troubleshooting across all stages of electronics manufacturing, while partnering closely with cross-functional teams to improve product quality, yields, and overall test performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop, configure, validate, and support manufacturing test and validation processes from PCBA through subassembly, box-build, finished product, end-of-line, and RMA/returned-product testing.
- Support ICT, Functional Test (FCT), Flying Probe, electrical test, programming and firmware loading, automated test equipment (ATE), subsystem test, final product test, and other applicable validation platforms.
- Set up, troubleshoot, maintain, and improve test equipment, fixtures, interfaces, communication links, programming stations, and related test hardware.
- Develop, modify, maintain, and validate test programs, automation, sequences, parameters, limits, acceptance criteria, and product configurations.
- Troubleshoot test failures and determine whether issues originate from the product, fixture, equipment, software, firmware, test program, interface, process, or test limits.
- Maintain test fixtures and related hardware, including pogo pins, cables, harnesses, connectors, adapters, wiring, interfaces, and fixture electronics.
- Validate repaired, reworked, RMA, and finished products through the appropriate test sequence before final release.
- Define test requirements and validation strategies for new and existing products across all applicable manufacturing stages.
- Analyze recurring test failures, yield trends, retest conditions, false failures, no-fault-found (NFF) events, escapes, and final-product validation results to identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with Repair, Process, Manufacturing, Quality, NPI, and customer engineering teams to isolate product, process, fixture, software, and test-system related failures.
- Participate in root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, 8D investigations, CAPA activities, and customer investigations as required.
- Support prototype builds, NPI activities, pilot builds, production launches, product transfers, and customer test-solution transfers.
- Perform or support GR&R, correlation, measurement-system analysis, and test-system capability studies to validate repeatability and reproducibility.
- Provide technical support to Production, Quality, Repair Engineering, Test Technicians, and other cross-functional teams.
- Develop and validate test coverage, measurement methods, test sequences, test limits, acceptance criteria, and final-product validation requirements.
- Perform GR&R, correlation, and test-data analysis to verify measurement-system repeatability, reproducibility, capability, and alignment between engineering, customer, and production systems.
- Ensure test equipment, fixtures, programs, firmware and configuration files, and revisions are properly controlled, qualified, maintained, and production-ready.
- Document test failures, validation results, engineering changes, deviations, RMA findings, and corrective actions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support internal and customer quality audits and provide objective test evidence for product and process investigations.
- Work with Repair Engineering to reproduce customer and RMA failures and confirm successful repair through complete functional and final-product validation.
- Maintain accurate test programs, revision records, fixture documentation, GR&R and correlation reports, validation reports, test data, and engineering documentation.
- Review test data across the complete manufacturing flow to improve first-pass yield (FPY), test coverage, retest rate, false failures, NFF events, test escapes, and cycle time.
- Develop and update test specifications, validation plans, troubleshooting guides, equipment and fixture maintenance instructions, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to the successful startup and ramp-up of a new electronics manufacturing facility by establishing robust test and validation capabilities.
Essential Skills
- Strong understanding of electronic test principles, electronics manufacturing, product validation, and automated test systems.
- Experience developing, validating, and supporting manufacturing test and validation processes from PCBA through final product.
- Experience troubleshooting manufacturing test equipment, fixtures, programming stations, and final-product test systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, PCB layouts, assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), test specifications, and product requirements.
- Experience with test program modification, automation, GR&R, correlation, measurement-system analysis, and test-data validation.
- Ability to use digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and related electronic test equipment to diagnose product and test-system failures.
- Proficiency in electronic troubleshooting and product validation within an electronics manufacturing or contract manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Design for Test (DFT) principles and their application in manufacturing test strategy.
- Ability to analyze test data to identify trends, yield issues, false failures, and test escapes.
- Strong documentation skills for maintaining test programs, reports, specifications, and engineering records.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in contract manufacturing or Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) environments.
- Familiarity with UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, USB, Ethernet, or similar product and test communication interfaces.
- Experience supporting NPI, prototype builds, pilot builds, and production launches from a test and validation perspective.
- Background in performing GR&R, correlation, and measurement-system capability studies.
- Exposure to root-cause analysis methods, 8D, and CAPA processes.
- Interest in contributing to the startup of a new electronics manufacturing facility and shaping test processes from the ground up.
Work EnvironmentThe role is based in an SMT and electronics manufacturing environment, working closely with PCBA, subassembly, and final-product lines. You will interact daily with automated and manual test equipment, ICT and FCT systems, Flying Probe testers, programming stations, and various test fixtures and interfaces. The position involves hands-on work at production test stations, frequent use of electronic test instruments such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies, and collaboration with production, quality, repair, and engineering teams on the manufacturing floor. The environment supports the startup and growth of a new facility, offering opportunities to establish and refine test infrastructure, processes, and documentation in a dynamic electronics manufacturing setting.
