The position offers the opportunity to solve complex problems in NGS, design innovative sequencing assays, and help invent new diagnostic methods in a highly collaborative, high-performance team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cell-free nucleic acid extraction from clinical plasma specimens, whole blood, and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue with high accuracy and consistency.
  • Work under supervisory guidance to plan and conduct hands-on laboratory experiments independently, ensuring adherence to established protocols and quality standards.
  • Design, execute, and optimize methylation sequencing workflows, including method development and refinement for improved performance and reliability.
  • Analyze experimental data, evaluate results, draw clear conclusions, and propose logical next steps and future experiments based on findings.
  • Collaborate closely with molecular biology and bioinformatics teams to evaluate and identify parameters that may impact sequencing performance and assay robustness.
  • Execute high-throughput sequencing operations on the AXELIOS 1 sequencer within a core laboratory environment, following best practices for instrument use and maintenance.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate records of all experiments, methods, and project-related information to ensure reproducibility and effective knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to troubleshooting and continuous improvement of NGS library preparation, targeted enrichment, and sequencing workflows.
  • Communicate findings, progress, and challenges clearly in written reports and oral presentations to cross-functional stakeholders.

Essential Skills

  • Strong experience in molecular biology and human diseaserelated fields, with practical experience in laboratory techniques.
  • Solid understanding of next generation sequencing (NGS) principles, including library preparation, targeted enrichment, and sequencing workflows.
  • Hands-on experience working with nucleic acids, particularly cell-free nucleic acid extraction from clinical specimens.
  • Ability to design, execute, and analyze experiments related to methylation sequencing and other NGS-based assays.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and collaborate across disciplines such as molecular biology and bioinformatics.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present data and conclusions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated and passionate about learning, with a strong desire to acquire on-the-job training and expand technical expertise.
  • Capability to work independently in a laboratory setting while following supervisory guidance and established protocols.
  • Eligibility for job level Scientist I or Scientist II based on relevant industry experience.

  • Familiarity with high-throughput sequencing operations and core laboratory workflows, particularly on platforms such as the AXELIOS 1 sequencer.
  • Comfort with data analysis tools and workflows commonly used in NGS and bioinformatics collaborations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining comprehensive experimental records and project documentation.
  • Proactive approach to troubleshooting, process optimization, and continuous improvement of laboratory methods.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment and willingness to take on challenging problems in NGS diagnostics.

Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a core laboratory environment focused on research and early development of advanced NGS-based diagnostics. You will work with high-throughput sequencing technologies, including the AXELIOS 1 sequencer, and perform hands-on bench work involving clinical specimens such as plasma, whole blood, and FFPE tissue. The work involves close collaboration with molecular biology and bioinformatics teams in a high-performance, cross-disciplinary setting that values innovation, scientific rigor, and continuous learning. The culture emphasizes teamwork, clear communication, and a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes through cutting-edge molecular diagnostics.
